snapshot provides a quick, simple and FREE report about three key elements of them – charges, investment performance and risk – factors that may significantly impact the size of your pension fund and ultimately the money you will have in retirement.
Do you have more than £50,000 in your pension/s?
snapshot pension reports are not available for the State Pension, Local Government and Final Salary pension schemes.
Please note that this service does not include Final Salary / Defined Benefit (DB) pension arrangements and some other occupational pension arrangements.

How much does your pension cost?
Ensuring you have enough in your pension fund for retirement is your responsibility – the charges that are deducted from your pension plan annually can build up over the years into a sizeable amount, reducing what’s going into your pension pot.
Your snapshot pensions report will detail what charges you are paying and benchmark these so that you see for yourself if you’re getting value for money.
What level of risk are you taking with your pension investments?
Identifying the right level of investment risk is essential for pensions saving. Take on too little and you may struggle to make the returns that you require; take on too much and you could be placing your savings in jeopardy.
Your snapshot pensions report will highlight clearly the risk you are taking in your pensions and categorise this so you will have a better understanding of the risk you are taking and if it’s suitable to you
How has your pension performed?
Investments go up and down in value. The greater the level of risk you take, the greater the highs and the lows can be.
Your snapshot report will plot how your pension investments have performed over the past 5 years, or since the investment commenced if shorter. This will show what progress, if any, your pension fund/s have made over the period, which may ultimately impact your retirement pot and income levels
snapshot is a simple, fast and free financial information service provided by award winning financial planning firm Waverton Wealth (FCA no 529061).
Why snapshot?
Our aim is to encourage better savings and personal finances. snapshot pensions is a service focused on providing you with key information about your pension/s so you are better placed to understand how certain aspects may affect your retirement.
How does it work?
You provide us with your details and consent so we can contact your pension provider/ and gather the information that we need to analyse your pension/s and prepare your snapshot report.
How long does it take?
Some pension providers are very efficient and will turn around requests for information within a matter of days; others can take several weeks. We aim to complete our analysis of this information and deliver your snapshot report within seven days from when we receive it from your pension provider.
Why do you require a signed consent?
Your signed authority is required by all pension providers to allow them to share information about your pension plans with us. We have selected to use a digital signature to help make the process quick and simple.
What happens if I don’t want to use a digitised signature?
If your authorisation is unsigned, then we will mail this to you for signing and returning. We will then process your request. Unfortunately, we are not able to provide a snapshot pensions report if the authority is not signed.
Your signed authority is required by all pension providers to allow them to share information on your pension plans with us.
Why do you look at charges, risk and performance?
We believe that these are three of the most important factors that may have the most significant impact on determining what you could receive in retirement.
- Charges eat into the investment returns from your pension and some pension plans are a lot more expensive than others. It’s important to be sure that you are receiving value for money.
- Investment risk plays a large part in how much your pension may grow, as well as governing how much values may fall, but it must be set at a level that’s right for you.
- Visualising how your pension fund/s have performed in the past will show how much investment performance has historically added or taken away from the value of your pension pot.
Please note that past performance is not an indication of future performance.
Does snapshot give any advice?
Absolutely not. snapshot is an unbiased report that provides factual information and an analysis of these three measures specific to your pension/s. It does not imply what action you should take.
What happens after I get my report?
Once you’ve received your snapshot report it is up to you what you do next. You may choose to do nothing, research and make some changes yourself, or consider taking some financial advice. We will contact you after we have sent you your snapshot report to see if you have any questions or we can help further.
You are free to withdraw from this process at any time.
It is always advisable to seek advice from an authorised independent financial adviser about pension and retirement planning.
